Or is that perhaps a nationwide problem and has absolutely nothing to do with London, you muppet?

On a side note, Wandsworth has the cheapest council tax in the country. How else do you think Sasguru can afford to live there?

These ridiculous prices are set for those who want to go to London by train.

Maybe this problem has got nothing to do with people who actually live in London, but it has got everything to do with London.

I've just checked costs of ticket in the morning from London to same station - they offer "off peak" in what is deemed "peak time" when going to London.

It's called supply and demand. All the places you go to FROM London are less popular.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

What a load of old cobblers. I don't know anything about "council house land" but I do know that no city worker is going to rent a room in a council flat with a chav roomie for £300 per week. Particularly when you can get a one-bed in a decent area for the same price (or a superior house share with other pros).

In a mass transit system such as trains high volume is a very good thing that allows to make large investment to have high capacity at pretty much fixed prices, hence keeping ticket prices low.

Why prices should be THAT much different in peak/off peak? Maybe they should have gradually dropping price from real peak (7-8am) to off peak starting at 10 am.

I mean FFS, they now shifted "peak" time from London to 3pm - I mean FFS - how the Fk can it be peak time? Trains are empty at this "peak" time because they priced everyone out - check multiple empty 1st class carriages in the first "offpeak" train at 7pm from Euston going to Brum - they are empty like 4-5 of them, where as standard class is totally packed: supply side is there, they just waste it on ******* empty 1st class carriages.
