Actually I'm quite liberal, my wife, who is English - she's by the by, is also liberal. For us there's nothing close to hate either way. All we continue to see are the small minded bigoted individuals (that goes for both sides of the border by the by) who continue with their attempts to divide the country. Thee shall not succeed!

Oh no, my feelings about this are nothing to do with bigotry. OK, I’ll make the odd joke about deep fried mars bars and Gordons, but I certainly have no hatred of Scots, Welsh, Irish or anyone in fact. I have, however, been on the wrong end of anti English hatred in all those places, and I can’t fail to notice that Scotland and England seem to be fundamentally different in political terms. I would prefer a peaceful, friendly union, but I just don’t know whether it’s worth believing in that any more. Perhaps it really is better to go for independence.

I just can't see the point of it anymore...

        WHS.

I've been spat at in Wales and barely tolerated in Scotland.

Just let it go, you'll be happier without it... (I know I would be.)

WHS. How would it work in practise though? You might have a situation where one side of a border street is rich and and affluent while the other is operating at third world levels and has perhaps even reverted to cannibalism (eating the English probably).

No - they've got Edinburgh you know...

You don’t need hard borders. There are no border controls between Holland and Germany and the level of wealth is the same either side of the border as people work and shop in the same places. Really; the only clue that you’re entering Germany just 20 minutes drive from my house is that the road signs are yellow instead of blue.

And I've been abused in England for being Scottish ...

I don't go around tarring the whole of England as hating the Scots. Not all Scots hate the english, it's usually just banter, but there's always idiots that take it to far.
