WTF ? How much money have the banks via taxation poured into the Exchequer since Big Bang ?

Max bonus 2500 sterling ? Combined with 50% tax and all the rest of it.. no wonder the big players are getting talking more seriously about re-locating to Asian financial hubs / Switzerland/ Frankfurt.

Cripple the City and who is going to pay for everything he wants to spend money on ? 300,000 'skilled' workers. A good proportion of them mobile enough to change country. Bye Bye income tax revenue too.

Do people buy this crap ?

Fook. I've been reading the history of Singapore. For all his flaws Lee Kuan Yew should have been running the show here. Look what he did from a low base.

    Yeah I buy it

    - I don't want banks of London defining who I am as citizen of Britain. I want to be proud of my country once more, that's difficult to say right now.

Wifey just got a job in Berlin, looks like we're spending the summer in the engine of europe

Clegg is making sense about housing. Only more houses will fix it. Schemes to "help people on to the housing ladder" are smoke and mirrors: if you don't have more houses, then every new person helped on to the housing ladder is somebody else kicked off it.

Agree with Clegg about simplifying tax and having a £10k allowance. Also agree with him on PR.
Agree with Cameron on immigration and slashing waste and red tape asap. Also agree with him on "Refuse to work, lose your benefits!"
Agree with Brown on.........................well fook all really. Clueless gobtulipe!!

£10k allowance is the only interesting thing from any party.

Clegg though is completely delusional and pretty weak
Cameron though is completely delusional and pretty weak
Brown though is completely delusional and pretty weak

So all in all, they're all tulipe!!!

I'm not sure who won, but Clegg definitely lost. On the whole economy section I honestly wished he'd just shut up and stop interrupting the other two because I wanted to hear them, and not him. And he clearly lost on the whole issue of the immigration amnesty, although it does make some sense, it's clearly political suicide to say that.

£2,500 bonus, I get that quarterly (very sales orientated business). I'm neither well paid or producing millions of profit.

If you want profit to tax then those that make it should get some of it. If the banks are avoiding tax then close the loopholes without forcing them to relocate.

If they do it in a risky way then regulate them so the risk is negligible to the country. I don't care if Lehmans go bust but I do care if my pension plummets or I have to bale them out.

top few percent of earners pay most of the tax, they can afford better tax planners and to move to Monaco meaning everyone else needs to pay more it may not be 'fair' but its reality. We need the filthy tax avoiders.

Agree the 10K allowance would simplify the tax system and remove many people whose monetary peers are working illegally from the tax system. Ok its an admission of defeat but a sensible one.

                    WHS.

I'm amazed more people can't see what an insincere gobtulipe the guy is, all teeth and cufflinks.

Or, worse still, perhaps he is sincere and actually believes all the unworkable nonsense he spouts.

I'm just as amazed that people have been carried away by this conman.

He was doing his best not to talk about his enthusiasm for the Euro and Amnesty for illegal immigrants. How the heck can he be expected to be taken seriously on a debate about the economy and claim he's straight talking and has every policy "fully costed"... then not tell us how much the illegal immigrant amnesty will cost us?!?!?! First thing they'll do when citizen is claim for everything they can since they will pass all the means testing criteria. And what the heck have these illegal immigrants been doing in our country for 10 years before being rewarded with Clegg's citizenship, or more accurately- I'll make you a citizen, please vote for me?

Clegg looked like a grovelling youth, a proper lightweight. I think Brown is awful, especially after calling that woman a bigot, but he made a good defence of an appalling record last night and made Clegg look like a little boy.

I must say though, and I'm not a great fan of his but Cameron WAS very good last night. Even thought I considered going UKIP or even BNP when I'm angry, I'm starting to think we HAVE to put Cameron in no.10 otherwise we get Lib/Lab socialism for 5 years. Those Lib/Lab commies will not cut as they will bow to pressure from union protests etc. they will just tax the private sector more.
