I've just got a ticket in the post. Silly me: going back for the festive season, I drove through 6 countries, and was careless enough to get flashed in the one where my car is registered. Still, at least in France the insurance company doesn't get to know if you have points, and they're not even allowed to ask.

Ohh Bugger!
I have just got my MOT cert from the car only to find that it ran out just before Christmas! Anybody know what to do know. I bought the car almost 12 months ago and assumed (Wrongly!) that it was sold with a 12 month MOT. That seems it wasn't the case!
This is getting worse and worse!
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

Unfortunately the new MOT computer system was put in place before Christmas to stop the age old dodge of slipping the mechanic £20 to backdate the cert. I understand there are still some garages to which the system has not yet been rolled out but unless you know a crooked mechanic who will help you out you have little choice but to get a legit cert and hope the plod don't notice.I'm Spartacus.Comment

Get the car MOT'ed. You can legally drive a 'reasonable' distance to the centre for a pre-booked test. I think you're within your rights to have gaps in an MOT, as long as you not driving the car - unlike tax which requires continuous registration. I doubt officialdom is organised enough to match the speeding conviction to a gap in the MOT cert.Originally posted by TonyEnglishOhh Bugger!

I think lack of MOT makes insurance invalid.
If they just gave you fixed penalty notice - rather than requiring you to turn up in police station with MOT/insurance/license then you might have gotten off cheap.Comment

Yes I know - this gets better and better. So from never having had a point in 15 years I have managed to get three for speeding + I know find that I had no valid MOT, and an invalid insurance document.

Get the car MOT'ed quick (like tomorrow). It might not do any good but it certainly won't do any harm.Originally posted by TonyEnglishYes I know - this gets better and better. Insurance is not obviously invalid, just in case of claim you are lost - not MOT certificate according to the Highway code is punishable a fine up to £1,000.Originally posted by TonyEnglishI have 7 days to produce my docsComment
