Urgggghhhhhh, hangover
Ok thanks for replies
So as I mentioned I'm not in Finance or Insurance which may put a lot of places out of bounds. My requirement, however is not to live commutable to London, it's just that I can't see an alternative
We've had:- Liverpool - will look into it a bit but for some reason the idea isn't sitting well with me
- Oxford - budget isn't really up to getting somewhere nice plus it's not a realistically a daily London commute is it? temper that with the possibility of local work and the fact it's a nice place that I know quite well...hmmmmmmm. It's an 'easy' option.
- Chester popped up - already keen on the place, just worried about work....suppose could B&B in London 4 nights a week.
- Exeter/Plymouth - too far from civilisation, I'd rather Southampton / Bournemouth
- Swindon - arrrrrrrrrgh
- Kent - yes but where in Kent exactly?
- East Midlands - Where exactly? Milton Keynes, Brum? Will have a good look at the former as heard some positive stuff from a couple of people about the place.
- Salisbury - agree, nice place, will take a look but what about the commute?
- London - places within my budget with a garage that will still have its contents in the morning....bollox......where exactly?
- Brighton / Hove - hmmmm...probably out of budget but I'll have a goosey. Stayed up the road in Worthing for a bit, and further along in Chichester, really like the South Coast, reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllllly like.
Anywhere else for my £250k?
ThanksComment

[QUOTE=SuperZ;1097361]Anywhere commutable to London isn't a nice place to live.

Not true - I live in Winchester and it is fine here. If you can afford it that is, which of course all true money-grabbing contractors canIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - EpicurusComment

Right then,
Kent is looking a strong contender. Unfortunately friends and family are the other side of London so that puts quite a downer on the idea though.
Seems my budget will get a place there....just reading up on Ashford.
Been to Canterbury and it seemed nice enough there too.
P.S. Winchester looks like a complete no go, nice places there are around the £325K mark.Comment

Only visited Ipswich the once, but it seemed nice enough...Speaking gibberish on internet talkboards since last Michaelmas. Plus here on TwitterComment

Plenty of nice-ish property within the M25, have a look on globrix - they have a handy map search which yielded this within 30 seconds.

You can also use upmystreet.com to get an idea of thee sort of folk who live in a particular postcode once you've found an area you might like.

As a suggestion, find the desirable areas which you can't afford and work your way out from there.
So, taking Richmond-upon-Thames as an example suggestions would be Kingston-upon-Thames, New Malden, Isleworth, Hampton, Surbiton etc.
Edit: Thinking about it, look into Surbiton.Last edited by Clippy; 13 March 2010, 21:13.Comment
