If you stopped paraphrasing the leftie sh1te from the tabloids, you would be aware that Gordon Brown described the ERM as applying 'socialist planning' to the economy rather than 'relying on market forces'. He told the parliamentary Labour party 'We can fight the speculators if we join the ERM'. Gordon was an absolute fan of the ERM and the Labour party was enthusiastic for Britain to remain shackled to it. He actually accused Lamont of delaying joining the ERM.
This is why politics is in such a state in this country the "but labour would have done it too" type arguements. Doesn't really differ from a child in a playground. The point was not whether or not we should of entered but the conditions under which we entered.
Norman Lamont did join it too late which is why he fooked it up.
The rate entered at was unsustainable, and only a blithering idiot like Lamont could fail to see it, he did several billion cost to the tax payer later.
This is not pro Labour but pro fact.
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
I was just trying to make the point that it wasn't an exclusively Tory driven action - the will to join the ERM was supported across the full political spectrum.
Most people think it was all down the "the evil tories" because of lazy tabloid journalism and total apathy.
That's why politics is in such a state in this country.
If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers.
Politics is in a such a state in this country because of all the whingers and moaners on this board. Leaders like TB derive their stature and lasting legacy through their brave and fearless decision-making. You can't please all the people all the time but you can do what's best for the majority.
The biggest decision most of you lot make is whether to use your left or your right hand.

I have to use both
