The only way you can be sure is if they have confirmed their handle by posting something that proves they were indeed the person you spoke to.
On the other hand, there is some merit in that people's personality is often reflected in posts so if you met a poster IRL you could probably identify, to a degree, their on-line persona.
Strange that since I got off the bench, and into a gig, having joined CUK about 6 months ago, I sometimes talk to people, or overhear people and think "that sounds like a poster on CUK".... not brave or sad enough to bimble up to them and ask though
