Non sports will include ski jumping (it's not just distance, but how well you fly/land)...

As I understand it, the judging bit was brought in to stop jumpers using suicidal techniques to gain extra distance, and when a gold medal is at stake, some people will risk anything.

So although I agree with your general point about subjective judging, I'd let ski-jumping off the hook.

Ski Flying makes ski jumping look rather namby pamby, but isn't in the olympics. This bloke jumped 239 metres.
