Where did you buy your first pint ?

My first Pint was in Barking Rugby Club (Called Barking Park Modern Old Boys in those days).
The "temp" clubhouse was an old shack in the corner of Barking Park... temp lasted many many years.

I think it cost about 20p and I was about 16......

The first proper pint I had bought for me was when I was 14 years old at The Angler's Retreat on the A13 at Dagenham when I helped out at weekends painting railings at Fords (for £30 which was a fortune).

The first pint I bought myself was at 15 years old at The George V in Cranbrook Road, Gants Hill when I stuffed my school uniform in my bag and asked for "two pints of ale". Got served as well. Result!

I am sure I have been to the Angler's Retreat..... is it the one basically in the middle of the Ford complex with a view of the blast furnaces (rather than the river). My mum lived a bit further down the road towards Rainham for a while (long after I left home).

I know I must have been to the George as well.... I have been to many many pubs in Cranbrook Road... mainly at the Ilford end cos I lived in Barking.
There was some tuliphole Night Club... was it "The Lacey Lady".....
I do remember the General Havelock... they had great bands..... and I am sure I saw Iron Maiden there*

My main hangouts (other than the Rugby Club) were in Barking - So "The Spotted Dog", "The Barge Aground", "The Bull" and (because it was very near school) "The Royal Oak"/"The Fly House".....

IIRR Bruce Dickinson went to QMW and was at the halls in South Woodford
