placebo effect, plus the psychological effect of someone comforting a patient

Surely there must be someone here, possibly an expert in statistics and modelling, who believes that a trace molecule can have an inordinate effect upon the host ? Some sort of atmospheric homeopath ?

So you accept that it works then, what is the argument?

Placebos often work, you just don’t have to dress them up as ‘alternative medicine’, with special theories about water having a memory if you shake it up and down.

Who cares, the treatment works, you can harldy have a placebo effect when you tell the patient that there is no treatment can you?

you dont have to build special hospitals and hire special doctors to hand out placebos. Ordinary doctors do it often enough

I recommend that next time you're at the hospital you refuse all treatment apart from homeopathic remedies.
If for some reason your so badly injured that you can't tell the doctors your intentions then I personally will go along to make sure that they only use the most highly diluted and therefor most powerfull remedies when treating you.

And while we’re defying the laws of physics, we could go over to chef’s Bad Back thread and advise him that jumping from a high building might solve his back pain.
