They obviously expect it to be left lying around unused for long periods once the novelty has worn off.

The only device of this type I'm even remotely interested in is a proper colour e-ink type jobby big enough to easily read A4 e-magazines. That's the one thing I cannot do comfortably on my laptop or 24" computer screen. Even though it swivels into portrait mode I just can't be arsed as it needs to be raised up on the stand first.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Wahey, that means i can actually justify the purchase to the Mrs as a work tool rather than a toy. Looking more like a genuinely useful bit of business kit, i'm liking what i see so far.

Hmmm, what makes proper ebook readers good is the e-ink screen which is much more natural and less stressful to the eye
Unless Apple can somehow simulate e-ink with their screen then they're not going to convince anyone

Plus e-ink doesn't eat the battery if you leave it on a page.

Maybe if this is OLED or one of those other super new display technologies they may have a fighting chance, otherwise they've just rolled it out to quieten the fanboys who'd buy anything with an apple logo on it.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
