Yes, mob violence and an arrogant disregard for the law is definitely something to be encouraged

      In this case, yes.

That's why trial by jury was invented. Sometimes the law says one thing, but under the circumstances it is not wrong.

        I'm with you (as usual).

I am surprised by how many people think it is OK to go out in a mob, hold someone down and smash their skull in, one using a cricket bat and one using a metal pole, while two others (whose names have still not been revealed by the two 'have-a-go' brothers) hold the victim down.

Just as I don't want to live in a society where people wander around with guns (and I include the Police in that), I don't want to live in a society where gangs of people go out and hold others down in the street and use weapons to beat other people into permanent disability and get away with it.

Neither do I, but when law and order have broken down, I do appreciate it when they get the right man.

So crooks don't just wait until the house is empty?

              I hope they did.

The one who got beaten is so brain damaged that he cannot submit a plea in court.

              The others got away.

The only witnesses to what happened in that house are those that did the beating and their immediate family.

There is the potential for a lot of doubt in this story.

                In any case, No.

It isn't a civilised society if it's OK to go and get tooled up and beat the crap out of people becuase they have done something bad (however illegal and despicable it may be).

But didn't the Jury convict this dude (quite correctly)?

I dispute parts of the UK are civilised. One has a natural right and duty to protect oneself and ones family in those areas. Pro-actively if necessary.

It is higher for most crimes than the national average.
