Depressing thought when you get to the bench

Is it really that bad in the UK? Things seem a little better here in Holland. Mind you, I said that in September and then the market fell off a cliff again.

As with many situations in life, those at the back of the queue can draw comfort from Jesus' Parable of the Labourers in the Vineyard.

Now that is food for thought.

Those on the bench may also find the Book of Ecclessiastes an invaluable source of comfort in the these troubled times in which he discovers that all striving , work and all that society can offer is essentially meaningless and ultimately all acts are an act of vanity.

What does a man gain from all his labour
At which he toils under the sun
All is Vanity

For all those on the bench I can only sympathise.
However now is the time to regain your passion for what you do.
You loved IT once, which is why you went into it, didn't you?
So learn something fun and new - find yourself and your passion again.

It's not that bad.

We're only two working weeks (not counting stoppage for snow) into the year and things are only getting started.

I love being idle - does that count ?

How I yearn to return to the bench - but I have been sentenced to another 9 months of Work/Vanity - confound.

No, I went into IT to make a living.
