Exactly that, language skills and personal communication skills are as, if not more important than technical skills. There are companies that will take in students with linguistic skills and then train them technically. A successful contractor will also be a good communicator.

cojak - In the past, I've noticed SAP Service Delivery roles paying well.

Do you have any experience in this area?

I would imagine it would be difficult to breakthrough without the SAP experience.

The only way to learn a foreign language well is to live there. There is more to language than just the words and grammar, there is also the social context and colloquialisms which you can only pick up on by living there. Also most European countries have free (paid for by taxes) or quite cheap part-time language courses. So you'd be wasting that training money.

SAP certification is also so very common. I see loads, but ask them simple questions about everyday stuff and they're stumped. SAP is one of those disgusting bits of software that you really have to have used to get to be useful with.

Microsoft certifications are pretty much worthless, but they are cheap to get.

Realistically I'd suggest some sort of management course, that can be used as a lead in to an MBA.

              Your're right, it's virtually impossible.

My experience has been implementing Service Management tools, processes and culture to support SAP implementations.

Fortunately SAP is crap when it comes to SM .

Don't ever go for an ITIL course & examination!

It's far too crowded as it is!

                  How about Scrum Master Certification?

It doesn't look like rocket science to me (having used 2 week prototype / present / develop / repeat cycles of development). And it does come up on Jobserve.
