Science Journalism == Buzzword Bingo: The Ultimate Example

From the BBC home page at the time of posting, although it will hopefully change:
Scientists in Florida say mobile phone radiation could protect against Alzheimer's, based on tests carried out on mice.

...and this, boys and girls, is why you don't treat journalists' science reports as actual descriptions of science

I switched to Radio 4 to listen to the last episode in the "In Our Time" series this week which has been looking at the Royal Society and its role.

Just before the programme started, Radio 4 reported on this story: "Mobile phone emissions are more effective in holding back Alzheimer's than medication".

I think the Royal Society - and the Royal Institution - may as well pack up and go home. Their work here has not been successful.
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.

It would be interesting to know who sponsored that research.

The "Florida Alzheimer's Disease Research Centre" is also responsible for "studies demonstrate caffeine reverses memory impairment and markedly reduces the hallmark protein for Alzheimer’s disease in the brains and blood of Alzheimer's mice" which became:

Caffeine May Prevent and Help Reverse Alzheimer's Disease

Indeed you only have to read the Global Warming thread to see that.
However perhaps I am expecting too much from those who are not very (genetically) intellectually gifted in the first place.
          Hard Brexit now!

Or who indeed produced the Computer Modelling to underpin it.
