If my house has been invaded by knife wielding intruders, running away definitely seems the best option.Originally posted by AtW View PostRun away from your own house where you sleep whilst armed (with knifes) intruders break into?

I have several Shotguns, None of which I would use on an intruder.
Just keep a can of de-icer handy. one squirt in the eyes and then call the police.
No lasting damage (Except for the nut kicking you give them while waiting for the cops to turn up)

How would you run away through (say) double glazing windows in sleepers? It's not a Die Hard you know - at least there he had a gun!Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIf my house has been invaded by knife wielding intruders, running away definitely seems the best option.

"Cobra" was very good movie, certainly pretty scary... sitting in a car unarmed and freaks with knifes break into to chop yer head offOriginally posted by sasguru View PostAh I see. In the absence of any meaningful life experience, you get your ideas from bad films.

IF you can run away rather than fight
THEN run away
ELSE fight
IF you fight and win
THEN you won't be prosecuted unless you've used disproportionate force That means using violence after they can't fight back.
Of course, if the reason they can't fight back is they're dead, then that is also a legal defense and you won't end up doing time for it, so long as you keep saying your were in fear of your life.
Only crims and the police want people to not defend themselves. The crims, because it hurts, and the police because it's too much paper work, and if you lose, you're the one who ends up a smear on the carpet.
So, by your repeated statements that you're not allowed to defend yourself in the UK (which is manifestly incorrect), either you are really really stupid, a criminal or a police officer. Or any combination thereof.

I don't want to run away from my house. It's people who came there uninvited that should run away expecting to be shot at any moment.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIF you can run away rather than fight

Try putting that on your application for a FAC - see how far it gets you.Originally posted by AtW View PostI don't want to run away from my house. It's people who came there uninvited that should run away expecting to be shot at any moment.
How many people in the US get shot with their own gun?Comment

I won't apply in the first place (and obviously won't have illegal fire arms) - the guns on offer are tulip and so is police statement that "self-defence" isn't a valid reason, wtf is?Originally posted by Churchill View PostTry putting that on your application for a FAC - see how far it gets you.
That's THEIR choice. It cracks me up how anti-gun people talk about owners shot by their own guns - that's their bloody own choice to own a gun and accept all the risks associated with it! Same as driving cars - this kills 3000 people in the UK every year, or rough 50 per week: that's 7/7 every week.Originally posted by Churchill View PostHow many people in the US get shot with their own gun?Comment
