Fight not, purchase one of these and get yourself sorted. Failing that, migrate.
I have one of those : it helps a bit.

But what really helps is exercise. The more exercise you get the better.

S.A.D. is no laughing matter. Kicks in from August. I am sitting in front of my Lumie lightbox as I type.

Cod liver oil helps as does St Johns Wort.

Oh bugger! Didn't think we'd had that much

Are you sure it wasn't the pointless meeting?

Noooo. Women suck the heat from you. Mrs PRC has feet that could cure global warming. I can go to bed all warm and toastie and wind up freezing within minutes.

Yes, but she does need either to be a salad dodger or top-heavy.

These skinny tarts are all pointy elbows, knees and hips and do nothing to keep you warm and in bed for an hour after the alarm has gone off.

For proper winter luxury you need to go for comfort, not speed.

There's a certainy irony that mankind, traditionally (driven by folklore along the way) has never been too keen on the dark.

However, I think the light is far more terrifying.

                ****

As light's labours lessen, and the gloaming drawns down,
The shroud of night falls, an enveloping gown,
That smothers, stifles, suffocates, strangles the light,
Bereft of all hope, the dark wins at night.

But comfort abounds in unlikeliest of places,
Hidden from view, from peering, prying faces,
Wrapped in a shawl of stygian gloom,
The pitch dark protects from pernicious doom.

The light shines the way, for all so can see,
But the night enfolds some, in sweet solitary,
I ask, is the night, so wretched a thing ?
When daylight is cursed to reveal every sin ?
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

My worst hangover this year has been champagne-induced.
