I fell for that one in my last permie job. 18 months into it, I'd had 0 discretionary days, and had to take holiday days when I was ill, or get no pay for the day (in the first 6 months - half pay for the next 6 months).

Mind you, I did get a massive 17 days holiday, so that was OK

Just got a call, and think I can live with it.

Been told I can have unpaid leave, and they'd be happy for me to work from home in another country (Family visits to aus for example), and they'll give me a few extra discretionary days as well, assuming I'm doing well, plus any sick days for my kids I can take as sick days and not days off.

Gotta say I've never been chased harder by a company, or felt more wanted. They upped the salary for me, they're giving me 4000 stock options when I start, they give good bonuses, and already said they want me to get promoted into another position in 6-9 months.

      Think I'll be taking it!
