The Romans had a thing about albino squirrels. They had a few hundred trained attack squirrels attached to X legion in the campaign to subdue the Helvetii. They also staged a chariot race in Circus maximus with a light chariot drawn by 200 racing squrrels versus an elephant drawn heavy chariot driven by Caligula.
