I have not watched whatever is on that youtube video but if anyone thinks the show contains anything to highlight for amusement they should give themselves a kick up the arse for treating something so serious as trivial and as comedy.

Even done in the style of Terry Wogan's pet hate: "Those people that sit there at home waiting for something to write in and complain about."

Excellent!
The BNP just increased their vote massively, the BBC just failed it's charter and 3 elected MPs were made to look like villiage idiots laughing at the unpopular kid when a serious debate on immigration could have taken place.20,000 TPD Posts!

Watched it today. Griffin handled it very well while everyone else went off-topic to take pot-shots at every opportunity. Dimbleby did a decent job but all we learnt was Griffin can present himself well - what he really thinks is another matter.Originally posted by minestrone View PostOK we should all spend our time on TPD posting stuff like

I wouldn't be surprised if the show did more for the BNP than against them. I think Nick's right... most people are anti-immigration (to some extent) and homophobia is still the norm.
Loved how whenever Griffin got applause, everyone else looked really angry.
Loved how someone called him Dick Griffin.

I think the 'he looked an idiot last night' argument is the same as a 'laa laa laa, I'm not listening' argument.Originally posted by Zippy View PostI don't think we were watching the same show.
All I wanted was to hear him say his bit about immigration and for the other people on the panel to have their reply. The fact that they cannot let him do that says our political system is as much wrong as his beliefs.Comment

There's a difference between not liking someone, and blindly biasing everything they do in that light. Objectively, he presented well in the face of everyone else ganging up on him. He took abuse without resorting to insults in response, laughed when he was made fun of and was not afraid to say unpopular things.Originally posted by Zippy View PostI don't think we were watching the same show.
Watch again and notice the very first question, Straw lays into Griffin even though the question was not about the BNP. That basically set the tone.
It doesn't mean he wasn't putting on an act of course. But the people crowing "I'm glad he was here so we could see his true colours" were talking tosh. The only thing he said that was offensive was about gay men kissing being 'creepy'... while the Muslim lady chickened out of repeating her past statements. Oh, and I guess he said bad things about Islam too... but I'm not sure they are inaccurate, it depends which Muslim you ask.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
