I had a stage last year where I felt like physical wreck caused by anxiety from the pressure to provide.

My tips are to get out for a good walk at lunch times and try and get as much sleep as possible. Although the physical aspect of walking is good it also gave me time to reflect outside of both the work and home environment which you don't get much of with a new baby.

Keep of the evil weed too, 3 months for me.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Just for an instant, I’ll be serious.

Get that BP under control. Sort out the ‘issues’ that are causing anxiety. These things can build up. They can cause massive damage and can kill.

Take it from someone who knows, once you are broken that is it. I will never be able to take on anything like what I used to.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

The last (and first) time I went to my new GP I felt like offering him some health advice. The poor chap looked bored out of his brain, overweight, wheezing and generally in a pretty poor way. I never did get the urine test the nurse offered me.

I have given up the booze until Christmas so I can lose about a stone and a half. Could ******* murder a pint just now though.

I'm off to the local in a bit, for a lovely pint (or two) of Guinness and a ham sandwich. Sod the stone and a half.

Does anyone actually manage 5 a day? (not pints)

                Yes. Usually.

No actually, my first figure was higher but your second figure is a lot higher than mine. One is stroke risk and one is heart attack, not sure which is which.

I dont feel stressed now but have been stressed this year:

                    Partner very ill in pregnancy
                    New baby (5 weeks old)
Only getting 3/4 hrs sleep a night
Sole breadwinner (not too much of an issue)
I Eat too much sugar and salt
                    I dont exercise enough
I gave up smoking 2 weeks ago (smoked about 5 a day)
Ten years ago that BP would have been considered normal for your age. These days it is considered high. I am grateful to doctors who got mine down from 220/110 to 110/80.

Smoking hardens the blood vessels. I have no doubt this is due to smoking and I doubt if the doctor would give you medication at this stage but defiantly see him.
Stress has very little effect on BP.
Stop taking caffeine of any sort or at least limit yourself to one coffee in the morning. Give up all salt. Your BP should drop to 135/xx
Surprisingly the Gym in no good unless you just take gentle exercise. You need long sustainable exercise such a walking (and it’s free) and swimming.
Make sure you don’t go overweight.
One aspirin per day will thin the blood and thus reduce some pressure. It also cuts the risk of blood clots.
You need to reduce cholesterol as this build up in the veins.
Take a look on the Web, there are loads of foods that reduce BP.

Note: Aspirin can cause stomach bleeds, also very dangerous if you have an undiagnosed ulcer. Take it but if you find blood in your poo stop!
