      have been running win 7 since RC1 and haven't had any issues. Have it installed on my main business laptop and have just this weekend upgraded it to a legit retail copy. It's far far better than vista, it just simply works IMO.

        TBH ... Window's NT/2000 was the last one I really liked. Have came round to XP as it's improved ... Vista spent a whole 2 hours on my laptop before it was burned!

                OS is not just the Kernel: GNU Linux for example, new Kernel but lots of stuff from GNU, all together one OS - separately not useable (certainly not kernel), same for Windows - kernel is a very small part, the real meat around is what makes it an OS.
