I'd do a 100 quid a day job if I could find something. I'm C# ASP.Net and that's about it - i can't ven turn to a crap 1st line support job because I have no experience.

There are a few .Net contracts around and I've had a couple interviews (which went well) but you always have to have all the "nice to haves", have worked in the sector before and live 5 minutes around the corner. In the meantime I've been learning some of the newer features of .Net like Linq and WPF so I can basically lie on my cv in the hope it makes it more marketable.

Get a job in a sorting office until after Christmas. I am seriously considering this one. If the Post Office workers don't want the cash we may as well take the work until they decide they do. I wouldn't normally advocate strike breaking but going on strike in a very serious recession where many others are out of work, not a good move.

I am in a similar position to you except I don't have a mortgage as I sold my house 3 years ago and living in rented. Since the savings ran out last month me and family have been living off the equity from our house, not a nice feeling, let me tell you...

It depends on what type of equity release you do, saying that you probably won't be able to do it though unless you're over 50 anyway.

Working in a sorting office is okay, but don't be tempted to do postman's full walk, unless you fancy lots of unpaid overtime. I'm still umming and ahhing over whether to do a bit of PO sorting over Christmas.

You really want to avoid that if at all possible, especially if in your industry you get credit checked before being awarded contracts....

How about internet delivery driver for one of the big Supermarkets, have you ever tried this ? Pay is better than Royal Mail sorting office i.e. more than min wage. Not sure what job would be like though, can see myself getting lost a lot

Hmm yeah maybe, but I'd have to work for about 2 days to pay for it, as opposed to 1 hour in my IT life.
