Hmmm - well the article in today's Daily Mail (I know but it's mentioned in the Telegraph too) seems to back up my original argument -

Labour encouraged mass immigration to help socially engineer a “multicultural” country and to try to “rub the Right’s nose in diversity”, according to Andrew Neather, a former adviser to Tony Blair

hopefully the tories will get in and they will prevent those that have arrived in the uk in the last 5 years from getting uk citizenship through naturalisation, that might go someway in reducing the huge benefits bill this mess is undoubtedly racking up

also could be a way to remove the ICT visa folk, if there are 100k of them in the country now and they apply for citizenship, then its good bye to IT as a career not just for me but for all the bright students who could have taken it up

The Neo Nazis did Germany the same favour in the 60s.

I think Frank Field and Nicholas Soames have summed things up nicely here:

          http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/6...-flourish.html

The only time that far right parties flourish is when the legitimate and reasonable wants and aspirations of ordinary people are totally ignored. Eventually, even reasonable people won't take any more.

This has all happened before, most notably in Vienna 1907 when the city was overrun with foreigners and Austria's own culture and nationality was denigrated as ours is now. Our lords and masters learn nothing because they inhabit an elite strata that sees few of the problems. Who made this tolerant comment do you think?
          Spot on, good post.

            Dream on.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I dont see what the problem with immigration is.

Very few of those posting here can claim to be genuinely descended from English stock.

The vast majority came from immigrants from Germany and France that moved here in vast numbers during the 9th - 12 century, unless you can say that you are 'old' English and descended from the Celts, Danes, Nords and Romans before the 1st century or shortly after.

That then leaves the rest who came over as a result of the Crumbing British Empire or because of wars and other political errors in the past 200 years.

The logic that sais that we need to stop this now is as ridiculous as saying that we need to stop people leaving the UK and becoming immigrants elsewhere.

The UK is nowhere near overcrowded and provided these immigrants pay their taxes, open a small business etc then they are exactly the kind of people the UK needs.

I'm not sure being the most densely populated country in Europe means we are far from overcrowded....

Let the people decide if we want more immigrants. If you want more and you think a Britain with 70 or 80 million people is a better place, vote Labour, if not, vote Conservative.

Denmark has 5.5M people for comparison and seems to function perfectly well.

It would be interesting to know how many of those on this board consider themselves British.

Personally I dont like people who are immigrants then say they dont like it. If I emigrated I would fully expect to fit in with the laws/customs of where I was going to. If I didn't like it I would come home again.
