I've never, ever been in a hotel which was too cold. It's normally the other way round... heating that you can turn down but no A/C, and windows which won't open.

For room quality in terms of cleanliness etc, TravelLodge have always been near the top for me although the facilities tend to be minimal outside the room.

Nah I would say Gleneagles or Ritz, but each to their own.

I always take some sachets of hot chocolate... don't drink tea or coffee, so if I want a hot drink I'm scuppered!

Actually, whilst we're on... anyone got any good Blackpool Hotel recommendations? Preferrably something stag and hen free, maybe just outside? (tried De Vere, but fully booked and too expensive!)

Quality does not seem to be directly linked to price and in fact a couple of the best hotels I have stayed in have been private ones with en-suite, very clean, newly decorated, free WiFi and English breakfast for around £20. On the other hand I have ended up in hotels run by chains and I paid £80 to £150 for shabby rooms, damp walls, faulty showers and curtains falling off the rails.


Any other suggestions?

The quality of some hotels in Bedfordshire are rank considering the price I'm playing for them.

I've now block booked a B&B until Christmas and it's amazing, en-suite, separate living room, lovely hosts - all for £45 a night

No, why on earth would I want to go to Sunderland? I bet by the standards of the town, my statement on relative quality of TL to other hotels is still true

I see no evidence of service culture in britan, no room service - none of the hotels have boys anymore like they do in most of asia.
