    That's a bit harsh don't you think?

You only need to have two or three ex-wives and your standard of living takes a large dive.

Mind you, you can't blame that on Labour can you?

And when you think what's just around the corner - 3 million unemployed, Road pricing, 60% increases in energy costs, tax rises, etc etc you may well look back at 2009 as being a pretty good year......
All that proves is 11 other countries have raised their game to our already high standards.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

You make it sound like having 2 or 3 ex-wives is not a personal flaw.
I believe the last 15 years have been the best time for someone with nothing to get rich.

You said it. CUK's not really representative of what's happened to IT over the past 10 years because it's populated (mostly) by the survivors. The bulltulipters survived for the most part IMO. An awful lot of people's IT careers went by the wayside in 2001.

Now steady on TW, it is a little unfair to take a swipe at sg purely and simply because he has survived a tumultuous period in IT. We must each utilise the talents and skills we possess to our best advantage. If a lifetime of brown-nosing and toadying was ever going to pay dividends then it has surely been over the last decade, and just because having that particular string to his bow has left sg well placed to survive the downturn is no reason to castigate him.
