1990 10th best in the world
2009 21st best in the world

And when you think what's just around the corner - 3 million unemployed, Road pricing, 60% increases in energy costs, tax rises, etc etc you may well look back at 2009 as being a pretty good year......

But also 20 back in 1985, sounds like a load of bollocks to me
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

British people have the worst quality of life in Europe, according to a report which highlights the long hours, bad weather, low life expectancy and high price of many consumer goods.
BS, these people have obviously not been to Belarus, Ukraine or Albania. A British lifestyle is on a completely different level. You people don't understand how well-off you are because you've never ventured outside your little cocoons.

ETA: "The report by price comparison website uSwitch analyses 10 European countries against 17 different benchmarks" - so they only looked at the 10 richest countries and concluded that Britain was not bottom of the top 10, but the worst in Europe...
