                  Cotton buds indeed but I expect some use them for fun.

                  Incidentally, I have been clearing out some junk and as well as a big box of cotton buds found a copy of Zak's "How to program the ZX81" Sounds like the sort of cutting edge stuff that would be just up your street z, do you want it?
