    I think that's a bit harsh, chap.

AtW does like to keep us all informed of developments, but I think most of us are quite interested and entertained in how he's getting on, so it's not really 'spam' as such.

You've come right out the other side of the forest of irony and ended up in the desert of wrong.

      Fair enough.

I suppose I'm suffering from the equivalent of compassion fatigue from seeing far too many utter bollocks threads, the excessive noise has blanked out any signal that there was.

Yes. I know. Thank God you don't visit TPD.

Not my fault mate - at least not the last couple of years

Call back when you index 1 trillion URLs. AtW has managed that as a one-man operation (until recently) - and I use the term "managed" because it's got to be one hell of a job managing the infrastructure necessary to contain an index of that magnitude, together with the metadata that turns it into something useful.

I know that the indexing is distributed, but anybody can get people to pipe in a load of data. Getting that data into the usable form that MajesticSEO provides is a different matter. AtW has achieved an Epic Win, and to deny it is merely churlish.

Try reading some of the interviews he's given to online publications aimed at his target market. He's a well-respected figure in the industry, and many people value the service provided by SKA.

If you think he's trying to replace Google, you're labouring under a misapprehension. However, having an index on the scale of Google's makes him a serious player in his chosen market.

            AtW FTW!

[BTW I was commenting on your use of emoticons in that post - missed the point?]

You are rather fond of lecturing people, aren't you Nick?

My thoughts on AtW, or anything else I post on here, are entirely my own.

Give it a rest and keep your bloody self-righteousness in tow.

Go easy on Nick because he is merely giving credit where it is due.

                To loosely paraphase Le Rouchfoucald,

"We are more often loved for our vices than our virtues"

It's a peculiarly English trait to criticise others for the work they strive to do, and yet remain silent for their achievements.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

                C.S. Lewis

If don't like forums with lots of junk threads, why are you here? AtW's SKA threads are (bizarrely) close to the top compared to 5 threads on the same news story & stories on Wilmslow's neighbours. At least he seems to have stopped posting about his lunch.
