That looks like a double yolker, and they're not that uncommon. Occasionally my chickens lay one of those which can be about twice the size of standard eggs. The surprise here is that the chicken died; must have been poorly to start with.

We had a box of six eggs from tesco the other day - 5 of them had two yolks!

Not completely surprising because that's what chicken-breeding has been all about. Get them to lay as many eggs as possible while keeping them just about alive. Occasionally the genetics gets a little out of hand.
