    duh, don't you remember

you forgot to take the batteries out when you packed it up three years ago with all your worldly belongings and shipped it to the UK.. only to send everthing all back (around the world, unopened) when they arrived (late) as you were going back home (unexpected..yada yada).

and yes, it's true that batteries will leak, eat circuit boards and toast your expensive DVD remote. Thankgod for the AV's learning remote... if only there was something to learn from

..although the AV doesn't support HDMI (1080p) switching
... or the now new standard Digi+ radio
.... indeed is now a 5 channel 700W RMS brick that's been around the world twice and has the carbon footprint of a small SUV.

    as you were

          No, I have 47.

One for the telly. One for the Virgin media box. One for the Hifi. One for the baby's cot mobile. One for the electric fire .......

And I used to have one for the DVD player, so that's actually 46 now.

There must be a market for remotes with a voice activated sonic locator, and illuminated buttons.

On visiting Mr P's cousins in Co Wicklow we noticed that in front of the TV was a small table with the tv remote gaffer tapped on to it!
They always knew where it was

Think like a dyslexic (it took me a few attempts to spell that one correctly, now I'm worried) according to a new scientist article I read some time ago they are the folks who will find a misplaced items long before the rest of us.

The reason being is the difference in thinking. Where is the remote?

                      a) Where was I when I last had it?

                      or Mr dyslexic

                      b) Where would I normally be when I'm using it?

I've tried it - it really works...
