What is it with German motorways and all the bridges? I am certain several of the new bridges just stopped in mid air and had open fields at either end, i.e. they were there but nothing could use them, and they didn't appear to be replacement bridges as they weren't anywhere near old bridges, or any other proper roads that I could see on the navigator.
Probably designed to let wildlife cross the motorway, prevents habitat fragmentation. Looks weird when you see a bridge with trees growing on it.

Some places had two lanes, but you'd catch up with a lorry and there was just no way to overtake as what remained of the 2nd lane was too narrow, and they went on for miles.
Quite often they'll build the bridges well in advance as the go ahead for the road hasn't been given yet. I lived near one which had been standing there for at least 10 years and suddenly there was a bunch of new roads and housing estates, overnight!
Wimp, those type of roadworks are there to test your nerves. I occasionally push my way through but sometimes even I wimp out. The only people who don't seem to wimp out are WVM.
