You are right. A teacher has a position of trust which also means they have to behave responsibly. She didn't.
I am not a teacher, but have been a Scout Leader (Ventures) for many years. Our leader training makes some effort to explain that even if one of our charges is old enough it is still a breech of trust to have a relationship with them.
It is not uncommon for people to fall for those who seem to be or are powerful. So it is also a misuse of power.

This woman as a teacher should have made it quite clear that she could not have a personal relationship with any of her charges.

I do wonder if the punishment isnt a bit over the top. I seem to remember other women teachers getting suspended terms for sexual affairs with boys, though by the same token a male teacher would have been banged up for longer.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

She wasnt banned from contacting the girl again in the future - that is where this case hasn't gone far enough. Teacher - adult - criminal. Can't work with children for life (good), Sex Offenders register for 10 years (good), can stay in touch with victim .... could you imagine a judge saying that to Gary Glitter or any other paedo?

I pity the child who is having to deal with normal teenage hormones and come to terms with her homosexuality at the same time; but at 15 she'll get over a failed relationship fast (we all do at 15) - providing 'Miss' isn't writing daily love letters or emotional blackmail to her.
Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.

Reminds me of our twice-divorced English teacher. She used to regularly take her jumper off really slowly and had a most fetching set of baps. Never exploited her position with the boys, unfortunately.

Apparently the school can't be named for legal reasons.

I wouldn't have minded if our English teacher was up for a bit when I was 15, as would the rest of the class. An adult male and female juvenile is different matter entirely though.

From your link, this is too good to not be quoted...

Furthermore, teachers are encouraged to go 'beyond the syllabus', exploring wider issues to nurture girls in areas that are not examined.

I disagree. If my female chemistry teacher had sorted me out when I was 15 I would have loved it.

I think I will need much, much more evidence on what actually went on to come up with a moral decision on the matter.
