I know it sounds cheeky but could you not say you wanted some time out just for a holiday or a long break and that you are raring to go now?
I did consider that, but I would have to lie for the duration of the contract if I got it, and I would probably slip up! Best to tell the truth I guess. It's none of their business technically, but realistically we all know they might bin me because of it.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

WHS, best of luck with it MP.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Unfortunately, for me, thats where I was dragged up. Know it quite well.

Hows the little one doing. He must be about four or five months now.

          Ah sorry to hear that.
No chance of working from home?
          Hard Brexit now!

Well it'd be nice - I would never ask that in an interview, but maybe once I am in the role it might be an option. I have got a nanny sorted I think and I love her (as does Ben) so any days at home will be a definite bonus!

                What a coincidence!

He is three months, he's brilliant and hard work in equal measures. Grinning and gurgling now which is ace. But not going through the night, and inexplicably having tantrums when he is offered milk when he does wake up hungry at 3am - argh.

Hopefully they do not ask as the market is so bad that they will automatically think that is the reason for the void. As long as you can do the job and are willing to stay the course it really shouldn't matter to them but I do agree some people might be put off by the situation.

                    I know!

She's great with him and makes me look like a total inadequate obviously, ha ha. He's with her for the day today so I am home alone for the first time in three months.
