Nope, Notallthere, I read exactly that. Why would a merciful god not forgive us for what is aftre all only a human failing like any other? Why exactly would a god create a being with the ability to think for himself and then condemn him when he does? Make him imperfect and then condemn him when he makes errors?

It is observably untrue that all men have the same chance to be good men. Me and you (probably) have had it fairly easy; pop back in time, have a miserable childhood with abusive parents and see what it does to your character.

What exactly is the point of man in any of the religions of the book apart from to serve and worship god? Then he tests us like experimental rats when he could simply have made us naturally good in the first place. Egotistical bastard, think I prefer hell on principle.

A creator I have no problems with, it's as good a theory as any, but the idea of personal redemption and especially the stories of the religion of the book are full of absurd flaws. Where is the soul or free will when a blow on the head can totally change a good man's nature? How can all men have an equal chance of redemption when they are raised in different circumstances and taught different things? Why was nobody before Moses, Christ or Muhammed or anyone outside the Middle East apparently worth saving or redeeming?

The time and culture bound nature of these tales reveal them for what they, inventions of mere men. The very foundation of them all, Judaism, was a creed for Jews only. It was evolved and adapted by men to suit men.

Actually I just had a great idea for a new story. Ta chaps.

There are numerous almighties, each with their own universe. Our god is sued for copyright theft because one of the others has done man already. He loses and has to make major modifications.

Incidentally, I have just proved beyond doubt that there is only one god. If you type "almighties" into Word it is rejected by the spelling checker.

PS EO, many religious sorts will tell you that god reveals the truth to such persons. Rather begs the question of why, if that is so, we need to teach religion at all, just lock kids in a bare room and they will know the Bible\Torah\Qu'ran by heart anyway. In Arabic probably.

I don't object to different opinions, in fact I enjoy them and the debate they engender. What I object to are trolls and sockpuppets that simply seek to cause strife and insult.

I've said several times that I don't understand why people troll or create trolling sockpuppets, the very tiny minority of sockpuppets that are genuinely funny are a different matter.
