Indeed. Just because this case got all the media attention, doesn't make it 'special'.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostKilling, torturing and sterilising these people will not bring the little one back. However, there are thousands of more potential baby P's out there right now, some even being beaten and abused as we speak.
If you feel as strongly as you say you do, get out there now and do something about it.

Ok then - how do you suggest they are dealt with?Originally posted by Churchill View PostStill morally questionable. Advocating that those which we deem to be outwith the bounds of society fulfill a role that society lacks the balls to fulfill itself.
It's an emotive subject and everyone has differing opinions. None of us are absolutly right and none of us are absolutly wrong. We don't have children so we don't know that our views aren't coloured by that fact but it also doesn't mean that those of us without children have views that are any less valid.Bazza gets caught

I do, but I prefer to keep them to myself.Originally posted by foritisme View PostSo you have feelings about it at all ?
I find the Sanctimony bandwagon is full at the moment and totally repulsive.
Like I said, if people really feel that strongly, what are they going to do about it ?

Given the current justice system in this country they are being dealt with accordingly.Comment

And what good would making an "example" of them make?Originally posted by sunnysan View PostIt was a horrendous abuse of parental responsibility and the magnitude of inhumanity was chilling.
IMHO, as much as vigilante justice sets unjust precedents, these people need to be made an example of. AFAIK there are no mitigating circumstances and no question of guilt.
If people are going to do this kind of thing they are going to do it regardless of the potentials penalties. As the US system, especially Texas has shown, death penalties are worth jack tulip at preventing crime, because guess what? Anyone who commits a crime does it with the intention of not getting caught and they generally believe they will not get caught
The only purpose of death penalties (and harsher sentences) is about appeasing the mobs…woops societies…. desire for blood and retribution. And as has been shown again and again, give the mob even one drop of blood and it will just demand more and more
The only real cock up with the sentencing here was the low minimums they got combined with these stupid indefinite sentences, should be just locked up in solitary and key thrown awayComment

True but there's no suggestion in my statement that the individuals come to harm in prison: where rehabilitation is possible then it should be pursued, with vigour.Originally posted by Churchill View PostStill morally questionable. I don't think any of us on here who find what they did so utterly reprehensible do have an answer...Originally posted by Churchill View PostI haven't got an answer.

I've said it before, but:
Imagine a large, transparent perspex box, 2 opposite sides, top & bottom, removed... with a large conveyor belt constituting the floor of this box, and an immense speaker system above. The walls are greased so the offender, placed in this box, cannot escape. The conveyor belt is covered in a thick glasspaper, coated with a mixture of sharp glass granules and salt crystals.
The conveyor is started, moving very slowly, constantly, so the offender can't sit or stand still - if they do they will be (very slowly) sanded down, so to speak. The speakers play audio of our choice - Max Bygraves, genius sadistic touch BTW - at an incredible volume.
I reckon I could sell the TV rights for that. You'd have to mute the TV though.
EDIT: Optional, but you could spray various chemical agents in there, for fun. Pepper spray, tear gas, chilli powder, mustard etc. That would be more interesting after the offender had lost large chunks of skin.

Now come on, you know as well as I what would happen to them in "General Population".
