This guy decides to check everything - redefines proper job. So he starts with the Tax check, then the insurance....and not wanting to give up to quick goes for the driving license check - which i had no problem with, as i passed when i was 18.

Turns out that my license has been revoked. up until now - i have had not to many points (6 Due Care 2000), however it turns out that they requested the license back in 2000, and because i did not send it - they revoked it!!! - DOH!!

ok so now the guy is like - well unless your wife can drive you, i can not allow you to take the car!!! and remember this is mid afternoon on the M1 trying to get upto Bradford for a wedding - so i said ok, she is allowed to drive the car because the insurance on the A-Class allows her to drive any other car.

Now the guy is being an a**, so now he phones the insurance checks my spouses policy out - and even with them TELLING him that she is allowed to drive the car - he insists that she is not!!! so he forces me to buy a stupiddly (because i have no comparison) expensive insurance policy - just so that i can travel to Bradford!

I have just spent the morning trying to get the D1 (Application for driving license form) completed - so that when the police prosecute me, i will have the required documentation to goto court with.

not sure whats going to happen, but i suspect something like a book being flung my way!!! I think it will be:

      3 points for speeding (93MPH)
6 points for not being able to produce a valid driving license
6 points for no insurance because of the above (driving another car, with the car belonging to me)

      HUCK SAKE!!!

ps: i know i was speeding, it was my fault. i dont expect to get away with it or anything, so i was just vetting my anger!!!

Why, on Earth have you posted your story on here? Is it fiction for our entertainment or did you really think anyone anywhere would have any sympathy for you?

Personally, I'm not bothered about your speed, but no licence and no insurance is criminal activity in my mind.

10 years ago, 1999 - (18 years old). order of events:

                1. Got license, passed first time (Schumacher!!)
                2. Finished Degree
                3. First job, London -
                4. drove back home on the Millennium new years eve. Was working long hard hours to build software for the year 2000 bug
                5. had BIG accident, car had to be cut open, expecting not a moving person
                6. police prosecute me, dangerous driving and due car - get 6 points in court.
                7. failed to send license back, due to asking for changes to photo card license - so they revoke it....
                8. fast forward 10 years...

..i usually play by the rules - got a small thing about not wanting to see the inside of a jail - but hey who am i to judge

i would agree, really seemed to be trying to find something wrong. i have been stopped by the police before - however this is the first time i have heard of him phoning DVLA to do a detailed check.

As i said - he also checked the details of my insurance - right down to my no claims bonus

well yes you would have to spell it laser - as it is an acronymn? for something like "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emision of Radiation"

so if you spelt it Lazer it would be absolutle rubbish

no idea if Tazer/Taser is an acronymn?

IPCC.gov.uk is your friend in these circumstances.

If the insurers said your wife could drive the car but the police officer refused to allow it then he has well-and-truly:

                      (a) overstepped the mark
                      (b) needs a slap

For the Court case, you may have a bigger problem. If you hadn't kept DVLA up to date with your address, that's an offence in itself.

If you choose to defend the Court case you might well wish to suggest that DVLA disclose what steps they took to notify you of the revocation of your licence back in 2000: the Court might find that DVLA = ***** as well as plod.

One other question; and this question IS a biggie. Are you *sure* he was a police office? If it looked like a plodmobile but had orange lights on the roof instead of blue, that's the Highways Agency, and if the chap who stopped you is a Highways Agency bloke he had no constabulary rights whatsoever.
