Went to PC World too. Browsed in there for half an hour and came out with... nothing! So that was a win. It'll save me taking anything back on Monday.

Has anyone, anywhere, ever bought anything from PC World and had it just work? I don't mean 'only just' work. I mean function 100% as promised.
Never. My systems are all PC World, and drive me nuts. Wireless router, Belkin (the posh N1 with the three aerials)

PC World are like a corner shop (I nearly used the P..i word then ): they are OK for stuff you need in a hurry, but you'd never do your main shopping there.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

        Yes - my MacBook

I had to wait twenty minutes for their sole bloke-who-knows-about-Macs to become available, though. Apparently nobody else knew how go and get it from the storeroom

can`t stand pc world for anything more than consumables. Much of the hardware compoents are a little outdated and/or overpriced.
I bought a piece of software back in 2007 that was marked "Windows Operating Systems". When I used it I found it wasn`t compatible with WindowsXP. How long had XP been aaround for, six years? After I took it back and complained, the software package was never sold again, I kept checking for it when I passed.
Also when I bought it I tried to contact the Support Team for the company but the company no longer existed. The URL took me to another company who bought them but they no longer supported the product, yet PC world had it on their shelves.
It was partly my fault for not reading the small print, but you`d expect XP to be the main supported Windows OS in 2007, not Win95, 98 and NT and W2K.

I bought 25 DVD-Rs in PC World and when I got them home they had transformed themselves into CD-Rs.

Only a few months ago, all threads degenerated into discussions about knockers. Especially at 11pm on a Saturday night!

Now most threads are degenerating into "How can this information get me off the bench?"

              That cannot be good.

Right, I'm up, washed and dressed, armed with a cup of tea and ready to go gig-hunting.

But what's that noise under the window?

Next door have got builders in; they're building an extension.

                  Great. Luvverly. Bloody marvellous.

Just in short Richard, what happened here? Was it a false promise?.. I take it the gig didn't pull off?
