I aint climbing on the bandwagon but its reckless at the same time to totally disregard the reality of the situation.

If I had swine flu, I would stay at home, get better and don't spread it more than it needs to spread...

Is that really getting on the bandwagon or just common sense ??

It's still going to spread!! Thats the whole point in a virus.

At the end of the day chances are the person you got it from, was also in contact with a lot of people close to you [either family home or work].

At the current rate the virus is spreading the only way to avoid it would be to lock yourself in an air-tight room for the next few years, what fun that would be!

Everyone who leads a relatively normal life is exposed to viruses, germs and bacteria millions of times per day.

Yes this is killing people, but so are all the other viruses, infectious germs, etc etc etc.....

Get on with it and move on!

Oh and just as a note, those people who think they are saints for staying home a few days, something most people dont realise is that H1N1 has a 3 week incubation period after you recover.....

exactly - catch the piggy cold - get over it then move on to the next doomladen virus

nb obviously if you work in a care home for the frail/childrens hospital then that would be a bit daft and you should stay at home

Stay at home, don't pass your disease on to others.

If more people did that less people would get sick. Irrespective of if it's pig flu or something else.

I don't want to get ill, and you're not a hero for coming to work, you just a greedy, inconsiderate bastard.

As I understand it there are two schools of thought:

              1) Try and avoid getting it at all costs.

              2) Get it now before it mutates into a much nastier virus.

The current government advice could be doing more harm than good if scenario two happens before an effective immunisation plan is put into effect. I get the feeling than no-one really knows how it will pan out which isn't very reassuring.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Well give that man a mars bar....

While being true, do you not think the amount of people actually effected in the end (and probably the death count) can be reduced by a bit of common sense...

I have no doubt you have an extensive library of "For Dummies" books - I on the other hand work in Epi programming for many years and actually know of what I speak.

Now go and have a lie down - you've obviously over-taxed your handful of neurons to such an extent that they've given up for the day.

Who's to say you can't catch it again?

Nothing I've read says this is the case.

Best avoided, and definitely best stay at home - I don't want the 'choice' forced on me by some misguided fool.
