Is ICT abuse only going to affect contractors then - I would have thought permies will be at risk too?
If so then the long term outlook for unemployment within IT will effectively kill the UK industry off, in the meantime...
..lots of unemployed people
......reduced spending
........companies start to lose money
...........more layoffs
.............no money for housing
................falling house prices
...................reduced confidence
.....................a prolonged recession
........................third world living conditions
So Mr PZZ (I assume you are a Mr?) - what is your theory about how this decline is broken, or do you think it cannot be broken? Are we all doomed to live in third world conditions, whether in this country or even if we emigrate to India?
PS BrilloPad - I'm not taking sides, just asking a question !
ICT's are only the thin end of the iceberg, if you look underneath, around 10 million IT jobs have been lost to lower paid countries in the lst 10 years anoteher 10 million are forcast to go in the next 10 years- yours included. You talk as if its is something that has only just happened and that there is some hope that you could do something about it. Far too late Im afraid.

Well 10 million IT jobs have been lost have they - did this country ever have that number of IT staff? We all know about skills shortages, some jobs had to go to fill the gap. We are now talking about more than filling the gap.
As minestrone says - we don't care about the jobs that have gone for 'outsourcing' based abroad. What we do care about is the trend in place for undermining UK employment by the abuse of what is called the 'market rate'. Sure rates have come down because of the recession - what we are seeing is blatant abuse which no other country would tolerate for its own citizens.
Yes I talk about it as it has only just happened as I have only just found out what a bloody ICT thing is.
OK so you say my job is going too - my job already went last year - my current client is in Germany.
The lack of a direct answer to the question I posed I will take to mean that you do not see a way out of the circle nor do you care to - and by the sounds of it you are well placed to benefit from this, your problem is you just cannot hold back displaying your glee in your situation by putting everyone else on this forum down.

Sounds like you know what the answer to your questions are already, just that you have not come to terms with them yet. Good luck.

Also please dont misquote me again. No one mentioned anything about 10 million IT jobs being lost in the UK. If you want to gain some credibility on here, get your facts right.
