Well done to England. Plenty of soul searching to be done in the Australian side. Poor bowling and batting was very costly in the first half of the game. Clark has to come into the side to provide some stability. Not sure if Lee will be right to go. The form of Hughes and Hussey is also a concern.

At the moment Ponting winning the toss and having a bat would feel about as good as a victory.

I still think if Australia plays anywhere close to its ability it should be able to win the series. Either that or bring Warne back into the side and watch the entire English team soil themselves.

That'll be fine if you bring him back in a time-machine from 2007.

Trouble is, spin bowling takes a *lot* of practice to do as well as Warne did it. He'd be about as good as Johnson if you bowled him in the next test...

I didn't say he had to bowl. I just said he needed to put the whites on. The sight of him has always been enough to have the English side packing it. I think you'll find he's been going around reasonably well in the IPL.

Be like tunnelling into the Alamo though wouldn't it?

I'm very glad about the result, for a while there I thought they might snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Rather a good match with some interesting and entertaining cricket which is a huge plus too

England now have the upper hand. But can they sustain it?

Yes, let's send our Aussie guests to visit a few pig farms while they're in England.

fantastic match, much more entertaining than a 5-0 whitewash. lets hope all the others are just as good.

Er...ok, I'm a cricket noob, but someone said at work today that we had won a game against Aus.

Looking on here, people's comments confirm that we did, all well and good.

Then I get confused when someone says :

England now have the upper hand. But can they sustain it?
and someone else mentioned something about a "series"

So, does that mean we only won a game on a specifc day, or are there more games that are part of this current round of games, or something.

I guess what I mean is, have we just won the Final, in football terms, or are we somewhere along the Semi Finals ?

In D&D terms, which I understand more, have the party just whooped the ass of the BBEG, or are they still working their way though a penultimate lieutenant and his minions before the end of level boss ?

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
