Used to commute to Manchester which I grew to hate. Job was boring and decided to continue working as a freelancer for the same company. I now commute 15min. to my office in Accrington. I like it here. I earn a pittance but I see my kids much more...and its worth it.

The Thames, knowing some of this lot

I live in the East Midlands and currently gig in East Anglia. Does a difference of about -0.46° latitude count as travelling from "The North" to "The South"?

I work in the very North and I live in the deep South.

                    What option can I choose?
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Well, I think you should buy one of these and drive it to work every day.
