Sounds a bit harsh, but wouldn't we would want the effects of climate change to hit the undeveloped / developing world the hardest - thus reducing the worlds population and therefore reducing climate change at the same time? How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think -

I always thought that foreign aid would be better spent as tax reductions for british based firms that went to third world countries and installed vital infrastructure for free.
e.g. Thames water send unpaid volunteer teams to install fresh water supplies and they can reclaim the full cost of sending the staff and the staff get a proprtion of their wages equivalent to layoff money to help them afford to work for free. Taxation can only be reclaimed against UK tax so all those that avoid paying it miss out and the foreign only based firms don't get a look in.
Alternatively we could just send it straight to corrupt governments so they can spend it on jets, BMWs and more guns whilst we get their refugees.Comment

Exactly, it's the old "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he can eat for a lifetime" point.
The UK does have infrastructure companies, engineers and architects who could build infrastructure, flood defences and cleaner power stations, spending money on them would give the UK a return and not line the pockets of dodgy governments.
Much as I doubt the motives of the Iraq war, there have been plenty of US companies which have made a load of cash rebuilding what the US military blew to hell. There's a premium to be made from grief and misery which is an opportunity missed if we just chuck cash in foreign aid at the developing world.Comment
