Sky+HD is great. I can understand people raving about Sky+ but I previously had a Humax Freeview PVR which at the time was really something so I didn;t notice too much difference in functionality. Anyway HD is great - Blu-ray or Sky/Freesat HD is brilliant - having decent sound though is just as essential as a decent picture.

      WHS.

I'll stick to my Sony CRT which still knocks spots of most LCD/Plasmas in terms of non-HD picture quality.

A good CRT will still beat LCD's and Plasmas on SD but most of the degradation is due to source being stretched over the increased screen size, you really need to buy a screen that fits your viewing distance which in most cases would be no more than 8-9 feet.

A 50 incher will look absolutely crap from that distance with an SD source.

A lot depends on the quality of the source - we watch a 50" plasma from less than 10 feet away and some SD sources/channels are quite decent.
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Does any mainstream outlet still sell CRT TVs?
