The good news is that another 220,000 British passports are to be issued to foreign nationals over the next year which will allow them full access to all benefits of being a UK citizen. Apparently, it was usually around 35,000 per annum under those cruel Tories. It's only fair.

The EU allows freedom of movement for its citizens within its borders unmolested. If you are an EU citizen there is no explanation required, in fact it is possibly against EU rules to ask for one.
You have to provide proof of ID to fly.
Nope, just that you are distorting my original point I feel.

Did you make a point? The only thing you said was that you have never been asked why you are in any given country. I have given ample reasons why that is the case.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

It goes like this: Turn up in UK - Claim asylum as you is political/gay/minority/etc. - go claim benefits - get job if poss. (black market) to add to benefits.
What benefits? They get something like £45/week to live on and ratty accomodation. The benefits stop the moment their claim is exhausted. Plus I don't think they get to choose where to live either. There's plenty of illegals working no doubt..not really their fault is it? Employers would rather take on someone for £20/day then £45/day. And don't tell me that you'd rather put an employee on PAYE than just pay them cash!

PS: I have been known to take cash from clients and just - literally - put it in my pocket.

Assuming you really meant "which benefits so asylum seekers get"

The UK Border Agency will assess your circumstances and needs. If you are not able to support yourself and your family while we are considering your application, you may apply to us for money and somewhere to live.

I'd take that over a tin shack in Mogadishu any day (and it seems to be more like 150UKP p/w apparently)

Point is it is documented that the dole will pay out with the provision of asylum application only, which they shouldn't do. This is the laxness which was referred to. Once the dole pays out, you have the ID to continue the claim (NI etc.) without ever getting an approval. There is then no followup on the approval so you disappear from the asylum system into the benefits system.

I personally would like open borders, but only with a harmonized European or global state system.

why have a concept of nation states?
why have universal access to the trappings of an affluent society if it is open to anyone who can get here?

I've never heard of that...and we deal with plenty of failed asylum seekers here. Most I think are on some type of program where they agree to return in exchange for continued payouts and accomodation. The rest are hitchingup with EU nationals (mainly eastern europeans) working here...and applying to stay on that basis. Perhaps then they could work and claim benefits...I'm a bit fuzzy on that though.
