It goes like this: Turn up in UK - Claim asylum as you is political/gay/minority/etc. - go claim benefits - get job if poss. (black market) to add to benefits.
Which benefits do immigrants get in the UK?
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

You don't know, but you say they 'Claim asylum as you is (sic) political/gay/minority/etc. - go claim benefits - get job if poss. (black market) to add to benefits.'

So should we all form an opinion first and then not bother to inform ourselves on the facts?

That would be very appropriate for CUK.

The trouble with "freedom of movement" is it's always going to be one way traffic as far as this country is concerned, much as it would be great for all the "No Borders" activists to be dumped in Algeria and have their benefits stopped to experience another culture.

              Ironically it's all our fault
It works both ways though, I've not lived in the UK since the late 90's and not once has any official asked me what I was doing in their country....

Some Dutch skinhead asked me that about 10 years ago so I hit him.

I suspect you are wrong there. You will have presented a valid European passport on entry to the EEA. As a citizen of one of its member states you are entitled free movement within it. This would reperesent you giving valid reason to an official.

I also suspect you have registered with your local region/gemeinder/canton/etc. You will have been asked the purpose of your "visit".

** I am assuming you are in Europe.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Ive lived and worked in 20 or so countries since I left the UK, some in EU some not. Still cant recall any incident with officials that have given me grief during that time.

I would still suggest that presenting a passport at imigration control is giving good reason to an official.
