That was taken completely out of context as he said it in response to having been ribbed off air by Tim Henman and a tennis commentator about Scotland not having qualified for the WC Football Finals. But don't bother to research the source properly or it might just blow a huge hole in your prejudice. It was reported in such a provocative and inflammatory way to attract gullible bigots such as you and Bagpuss. It would be rather a shame if you disappointed the media people involved in whipping it up.

Truth be told I can fully understand why people do not readily feel drawn towards him on a personal level. He is the archetypal dour Scot, and is as likely to induce people to gravitate towards him as is Gordon Brown. However, for people to dislike him because they feel he is anti-English, an assumption based largely on an oft-misquoted interchange, shows the level of small-minded racism that exists in the country today. As was the case with Henman before him I will continue to support him as he is the only Brit tennis player with any hope of winning a grand slam tournament.
If the best you can counter with is some piffle about me "fancying him" then you really are as feeble-minded as some of the tripe you posted earlier might indicate. Stick to whatever it is you do best, if there is anything.
