Look at inflation adjusted chart on that page -

Also I hold the view that we are living in times when one decade is not the same as the other: situation in 60s was very different to what it is now, thus, referring to some numbers back then is dangerous because it implies we live inthe same conditions as before.

Assuming there is going to be a 50% price drop. The rent will not drop that much for sure. Guess who is in the luckiest position to negotiate a mortgage with a bank? Someone with existing properties or someone with a few grands in the account? Answers: the homeowners. Guess what? Homeowners will buy another flat and rent out his old one repaying the mortgage. Guess what 10 years later? The prices will triple again and the homeowners will have 2 flats worth a small fortune. However, if NL is still in power expect a nice council flat to be paid for you. But..... don't count too much on NL, they might not be around for the next 10 years.

Not even if they drop 50%???? What do you want? A 5 bed detached house in Leicester Square for a fiver?

I don't like the idea of living in a big city regardless of price. Here is the one I plan on buying:

May have to add a big tower for my future wife.

Of course you wouldn't want to spend more than a grand on it, right?

No, I think a proper house like this is worth a few million quid, perhaps as much as 10.

What if the house prices crash? Are castles immune to that?

Dude - a guy who can afford to buy a castle for a few millions DOES NOT GIVE A FECK ABOUT PRICE CRASH!

I personally think this is one of the most beautiful castle in the world.

Vytautas was certainly a person of taste.

"fabulous treasures were kept in the castle. Even the saddles on thoroughbred horses were made of gold. Some of the saddles were presented to Russian prince Vasiliy I."
