You may think that but I couldn't possibly comment.

Yea. It should have read "tremendous", but some f@@kwit tester must not have caught it before it went out

Good lad! If it meets the spec when it leaves you then all is well with the world.

If a dev has done code reviews and unit tests then they have done their due diligence as far as I'm concerned. You could get them to sit there testing it for a couple of weeks to make sure it works before going into test, or you could let your testers tear it apart for a couple of weeks while your devs work on more code.

Which do you think is a better use of your devs time?

            Oh and...

Don't people CARE about what they put out there? Some of the contractors i work with don't seem to give a F about their stuff. They effectively work to rule. They dont test anything including their own stuff, because they are not paid to test.

(Yes i was contracting for years. I am earning as much now as a perm due to huge IB bonuses. I will go back to contract when the market picks up - no dosh envy)
Poorly paid contractor gone permie hey..... That will be why you don't get the bigger picture i suppose...

I had to do some work yesterday so did not get the chacne to respond to some of the more stupid quotes on here

but I just could not resist this one

I can't decide if you are taking the piss or are actually serious...but here's a friendly word of advice. You can delegate authority, you can't delegate responsibility. At the end of the day, if it's your project, it's your responsibility.

So assuming you have ever been in a positon to lead people which I hope not but hey ho

I would therefore assume that if you cannot delegate responsibility you would have done all the work of your team as according to you none of them would have been responsible for doing it.

So you seriously think that by abdicating responsibility for something to one of your team, in the eyes of your stakeholders you will no longer be held responsible for that piece of work??

And people wonder why project managers (if you are indeed one) have a bad name.

If someone like you thinks I am "You pointless *****" I'll take that as a compliment.

Last gig I forgot to check in a file before I left the team, consequence was that when code went to production all hell broke lose.

Nobody tested it although the code was in testing for 4 weeks.

Was that my fault or the testers?

so you admit you did not do your job and you ask who is at fault.

                    this is a tough one
