I caught the second half. Is the guy a bit stupid? Opening the van door like that, and wanting to run around in a hail storm when everybody else seemed to be staying in the vehicles.

I spotted WXMan for a moment saying something like "let's do it!".
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

That woman that said "Stationary? What does that mean?" reveals why so many get killed.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Nice one Wxman. Keep clear of the TV reporter (in a different van altogether would be best). I expect to see him whip out a big lighting conductor hat in the next show...and he will be wanting to hold someone's hand.

Saw the prog, enjoyed it. Didnt like the presenter much though and how stupid do you have to be to try and open a car door in those conditions=

            Clocked WX twice.

I have to ask - how's the missus?
Your agonising over whether to stay (in the US IIRC) for another storm or come back home to a somewhat miffed (and getting miffed-er) lady made excellent TV !

              >> The missus (Alison) is cool, three weeks after our "agonising" incident I was out with Chris filming Hurricane Ike. In fact I have just returned from a three week trip to the USA, but the weather did not co operate and it was wall to wall sunshine due to a sub tropical storm system forming West of Florida (Florida got 19 inches of rain !!!)

However things are picking up again big time, so much so that I have booked a flight out to Colorado leaving this Saturday for a week. Alison is cool with this.

However looking at the weather models, I may now need to leave tomorrow (Thursday). I will broach the subject to Alison in the next 30 mins over coffee. I am not sure that I am going to succeed with pulling my trip forward by two days this time…

Those models will get you into trouble again wxman

Agreed, the reporter was a bit of a tool, but still looking forward to next weeks show

“How do you reconcile the euphoria of being close to the tornados with the grief people suffer?”

                  Good question.
I gain no pleasure from seeing buildings / property / people affected or destroyed by these weather systems. For me it is all about the weather. I would much rather film these things over remote areas of Colorado or New Mexico or remote parts of the Gulf Coast but the tornadoes and Hurricanes will still form weather or not I am there.

One plus point of my being there is that I ALWAYS severe weather directly to the Local National Weather Service office that has responsibility for issuing warnings.

I recall in 2008 when I saw a tornado form at night south of Wakeeney, Kansas heading directly for the town. I immediately phoned the report into the NWS and they were able to issue a Tornado Warning right away to Wakeeney. Fortunately the Tornado lifted before it hit the town.

Ah I'm gutted I missed it - I'll definately catch the next one though. You have to give us more notice man!!!

I think the best TV I watched in the whole of last year was your more4 documentary. I honestly loved it.

I still think you and Alison should get your own "fly on the wall" show

Wx did not feature much in last nights show.
He spoke twice that I noticed for about 2 seconds a go.
